Standards for Reporting on Empirical Social Science Research in 91ɬÂþ Publications

Adopted by 91ɬÂþ Council in June 2006, Standards for Reporting on Empirical Social Science Research in 91ɬÂþ Publications are directed to authors, editors, reviewers, and readers of 91ɬÂþ journals, but their substance and the breadth of methodological coverage are not particular to education research. Thus, in publishing these standards, the Association seeks to offer an educational document that can be useful to other research societies and journal publishers that disseminate empirical work using these same social science methods. Also, as part of the 91ɬÂþ's broader educational mission to advance high-quality research in education and to foster excellence in reporting on empirical research, the Association commends use of these standards in the training and preparation of researchers in publishing research.

Standards for Reporting on Humanities-Oriented Research in 91ɬÂþ Publications

Adopted by 91ɬÂþ Council in January 2009, Standards for Humanities-Oriented Research in 91ɬÂþ Publications has been developed to complement 91ɬÂþ’s Standards for Reporting on Empirical Social Science Research in 91ɬÂþ Publications. The purpose of providing standards for humanities-oriented research in education is to assist researchers who are preparing manuscripts that are humanities oriented, editors and reviewers who are charged with evaluating such manuscripts for publication, and readers of humanities-oriented publications who are interested in learning from and building on such work. An additional aim of these standards is to educate newcomers and others in the broader education research community who may not be familiar with humanities-oriented genres or with the purposes, goals, and methods of humanities-oriented research. This additional aim is particularly important because humanities-oriented research in education has a long history and continues to play a unique and indispensable role.
