President Tierney to Address the Role of the Intellectual in Eliminating Poverty
Share
In his presidential address
,
William Tierney will examine the twin themes of how educational organizations might improve access and equity, and what the role of the intellectual is in the elimination of poverty. He will focus on how high schools might improve college readiness and access to a postsecondary education based on the extant literature. Then, he will address how education scholars need to broaden their work beyond the confines of the academy, and become more engaged with bringing about change aimed at creating a more equitable society.
The presidential address will be held on Monday, April 29, 4:35 to 5:50 p.m., at the Hilton Union Square, Ballroom Level – Continental 4-6. A champagne reception will follow immediately afterward, in the Continental Foyer, from 5:50 to 6:20 p.m.
