Subspecialty Careers: Allergy & Immunology
Allergy and immunology involves the management of disorders related to the immune system. These conditions range from the very common to the very rare, spanning all ages and encompassing various organ systems.
Acute sinusitis affects millions of persons in the United States every year and is among the most common reasons for physician visits, prompting over 3 million visits annually. The more accurate term for this condition is acute rhinosinusitis, because symptoms involve both the nasal cavity and the sinuses.
ACP will be hosting the Dragon鈥檚 Lair Competition, the second 鈥淪hark Tank鈥- themed competition, during ACP Internal Medicine Meeting 2017, where finalists will present their project ideas to a distinguished panel of judges in front of a live audience. Project ideas may be submitted by physicians or medical students and should focus on transforming clinical practice.
A Grand Prize winner will receive $7,500 in funding for project development and an Audience Choice prize of $2,500 will also be awarded. All finalists are eligible to receive complimentary meeting registration and travel funds to attend ACP Internal Medicine Meeting 2017.

The 管家婆心水论坛 is recruiting medical students to act as standardized patients at Internal Medicine Meeting 2017 to be held March 28 - April 1, 2017 in San Diego, CA at the San Diego Convention Center.
Students are needed for:
- The Point-of-Care Ultrasound for Internists and Hospitalists pre-course on Tuesday, March 28 and Wednesday, March 29, 7:30am - 5:00pm. Students can sign-up for one or two days, and will receive a stipend of $75 per day.
- Ultrasound-guided activities in the Herbert S. Waxman Clinical Skills Center, Thursday, March 30 through Saturday, April 1. Students who register will receive a stipend of $20 per hour.
These are noninvasive workshops, and students will be used to demonstrate ultrasound technique and imaging of normal anatomy.
