2024 ACP Advocacy Priorities
ACP’s advocacy priorities seek to promote policy reforms on the federal level through legislative, regulatory, and executive actions that benefit the overall health and well-being of patients, physicians, and the practice of internal medicine.
Where We Stand
Administrative burdens, inadequate physician payments, high drug prices, and lack of access to affordable health care coverage are making it harder for internal medicine physicians to practice medicine, earn a living, and help patients.
ACP advocates for policies that improve patients' health care and well-being along with a persistent push for better reimbursement for internal medicine physicians and the elimination of unnecessary administrative tasks that hinder your practice of medicine. We press legislators and regulators for changes that can successfully improve your daily work experience and free you up to focus on the care you were trained to provide.

As part of our non-partisan commitment to civic engagement and voter education, ACP has prepared a resource with information on the health records of the two major party presidential candidates, Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.

With Civic Health Month (August) just behind us and with National Voter Registration Day coming up on Sept. 17, this is the time for internal medicine physicians to get engaged.

ACP members took to the Capitol for Leadership Day to address reducing administrative burden, compensating physicians for the value of care they provide, and supporting programs that strengthen the physician workforce.
Leadership Day
An annual advocacy day on Capitol Hill where ACP staff and members strive to increase our presence in Washington, D.C., and bring visibility to issues of common concern. Participants are briefed on ACP's top legislative priorities and meet with legislators on Capitol Hill. Leadership Day is presented by ACP Services Inc., which fosters excellence and professionalism in the practice of internal medicine through public policy advocacy.
ACP Health Policy Internship Program
Develop legislative knowledge and advocacy skills working with ACP's staff in Washington, D.C. A special opportunity for Resident/Fellow and Medical Student members.
