Welcome to the ACP Virginia Chapter website! This site has been developed to keep internal medicine physicians in Virginia up-to-date on the developments and activities in our Chapter.
ACP is the nation's largest medical specialty organization. Membership comprises more than 160,000 internal medicine physicians, medical students, and allied health professionals. Our Virginia chapter has a growing membership of 3,749. We are your link to the larger organization, your grassroots advocacy partner, and your local supplier of educational, professional, and social programs. Our goal is to be your local professional home.
As Governor, I鈥檓 responsible for representing our Chapter to the national organization; encouraging internists in our state to become members and members to advance to Fellowship; recognizing members for their achievements; soliciting input and action on national and local political issues affecting the environment of internal medicine; hosting local scientific meetings and CME events; and encouraging Medical Student Members and Resident/Fellow Members to participate in local and national College activities. Our goal is to be your local professional home-through valuable networking, professional development, advocacy, and educational activities to enhance your member experience.
Keep an eye on your inbox for our chapter newsletters and other communications from the chapter highlighting member achievements, as well as upcoming opportunities to engage with one another. You can also find contact information for our chapter. We welcome any suggestions you might have for our website and the chapter - We need your feedback so we can better serve you and do our part to help make us all better, happier internal medicine physicians.
I encourage you to visit this site frequently for updates and join us at one of our upcoming programs! And if you鈥檙e not currently a member, please consider becoming one and taking advantage of all the excellent ACP benefits.
If you have questions, please reach out to me or our chapter staff, Sarah Wardrop at any time. I look forward to engaging with you.
Sincerely,
Renee Y. Carter, MD, MPH, FACP
