91ɬÂþ Opening Plenary Session: Linda T. Smith

Linda Tuhiwai Smith interpreted the conference theme “To Know Is Not Enough” and reviewed “what we know” about researching indigenous education. She provided insights about the politics, policies, and practicalities of applying available knowledge to indigenous learning contexts. The talk drew from diverse research projects that have explored indigenous knowledge, cultural revitalization, research methodologies, activism, and the search for well-being within and beyond the education context. Smith addressed some of the barriers to indigenous educational achievement as well as some of the triumphs.
