ACP, along with other health care organizations, supports released by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the National Partnership for Women & Families. 鈥淭he Project on Facility Guidelines for the Safe Performance of Primary Care and Gynecology Procedures in Offices and Clinics鈥 was undertaken to support evidence-informed policy regarding procedures performed in these settings with the goal of furthering health care quality, safety, affordability, and patient experience without imposing unjustified burdens on patients' access to care or on clinicians' ability to provide care within their scope of practice. ACP Comments on MedPAC recommendations to end incident to billing
ACP submitted comments to the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC) on the Commission's unanimous vote in favor of draft recommendations to end incident to billing for Advanced Practice Registered Nurses and Physician Assistants. Incident to billing helps to facilitate and encourage care coordination across a team of clinical professionals and will become more important as we transition increasingly toward alternative payment models and team-based care. ACP has long supported incident to billing because it supports the College's goals to enhance patient care, increase patient access and improve physician productivity.
