WASHINGTON, D.C. February 24, 2022 鈥揟he 管家婆心水论坛 (ACP) has named Shari M. Erickson, MPH as their new Chief Advocacy Officer and Senior Vice President of Governmental Affairs and Public Policy beginning on March 14, 2022.
鈥淲e are excited that ACP will have Ms. Erickson鈥檚 expertise in the issues that are important to internal medicine physicians and the health care landscape. I鈥檓 confident that Shari will guide our Washington office and lead our organization鈥檚 efforts in how we advocate for our members on public policy, regulatory issues, and payment and delivery system reform both now and in the future,鈥 said Darilyn Moyer, MD, FACP, ACP鈥檚 Executive Vice President and CEO.
ACP is the largest medical specialty organization and the second-largest physician group in the United States. ACP members include 161,000 internal medicine physicians (internists), related subspecialists, and medical students. Internal medicine physicians are specialists who apply scientific knowledge and clinical expertise to the diagnosis, treatment, and compassionate care of adults across the spectrum from health to complex illness.
Erickson has worked for ACP since 2007, starting in ACP鈥檚 Center for Practice Improvement and Innovation. She was promoted to Vice President of Governmental Affairs and Medical Practice in 2012, taking charge of ACP鈥檚 advocacy and policy initiatives related to federal regulatory agencies. Most recently she has been serving as ACP鈥檚 Interim Senior Vice President of Governmental Affairs and Public Policy. Erickson takes over her new role as head of ACP鈥檚 Washington office from Bob Doherty, who is now ACP鈥檚 Special Advisor to the Chief Advocacy Officer and Senior Vice President Emeritus and will be retiring on July 31, 2022.
Before coming to ACP, Erickson was a Senior Program Director with the National Quality Forum (NQF) in Washington, D.C. where she was responsible for managing an array of projects that support NQF鈥檚 national strategy for healthcare quality measurement and reporting. Erickson earned a Master of Public Health from The Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health in 2009.
