Philadelphia, PA (March 19, 2020) – Today the ܼˮ̳ (ACP) launched “Telemedicine: A Practical Guide for Incorporation into your Practice,” an online CME program to help physicians implement telemedicine. Free to ACP members, the program provides guidance to physicians about:
- Employing change techniques to introduce and sustain telemedicine video-visits in a clinical setting.
- Techniques for delivering high-quality health care through telemedicine.
- Selecting the technical, licensure, insurance and reimbursement components needed for a successful telemedicine program.
The interactive program includes timely information about patient care during pandemics and public health crises. Developed with support from an unrestricted educational grant from Amwell, the program also includes information on:
- Reasons to Use Virtual Visits
- Conducting the Video Visit
- Reimbursement
- Clinical Use Cases
- Success Stories from ACP Members
“This guide is particularly timely given the current COVID-19 pandemic, as patients will appropriately not be going to doctors’ offices or healthcare facilities for many routine follow-up visits, preventive care visits, or elective procedures. ACP encourages physicians and practices to immediately implement telemedicine video-visits as possible as it can help mitigate the exposure of patients, health care workers, and the community to infectious disease, and it enables physicians to continue to provide patient care,” said ACP President Robert M. McLean, MD, MACP.
The ACP Telemedicine Guide joins other ACP developed resources provided to help physicians prepare for, diagnose and manage COVID-19 and implement telemedicine video-visits in practices. These additional materials as well as further telehealth information are available on the ACP Coronavirus Resource Hub and in the ACP Telehealth Resources section.
