The annual Richard Neubauer Advocate for Internal Medicine Award recognizes the Advocate member who has made exceptional contributions to advance the College's public policy agenda. Advocates communicate as constituents with their members of Congress on issues of importance to internists, their patients, and medical students. The College has over 15,000 Advocates who partner with ACP's Washington office.
The recipient is chosen based on the quality and quantity of responses to ACP's congressional Legislative Alerts, writing editorials and letters to the editor, meeting with members of Congress, expanding chapter federal advocacy efforts, recruiting Advocates, organizing and attending , and other meetings with legislators.
The Richard Neubauer Advocate for Internal Medicine Award is presented during the College's annual Leadership Day in Washington, DC. The recipient is also recognized at the following year's Convocation.
Nominations may be submitted by chapters or members; contact stomlinson@acponline.org. The deadline is March 25. Nominees must be registered members of ACP's Advocates for Internal Medicine Network who have actively participated in federal advocacy during the past year.
